Factory-written tech packs · Halkalı, Istanbul

A photo is not a factory file.

Without a locked size chart the jean will not match the design: rise off, knee in the wrong place, pockets too high, wash guessed. We write the tech pack. We sew the first sample from that file. Produce with us, or take it to another mill — the document should still be written here.

The problem

Without a tech pack the jean will not come out as designed

Photos, Pinterest and a WhatsApp voice note leave every cutter, sewer and wash operator to invent the garment. Two factories will make two different jeans from the same photo. That is not creative interpretation — it is missing information.

The size chart is not optional

A measurement table (POM) is the only way to lock fit. Without waist, hip, rise, thigh, knee, inseam and hem — with tolerances — the sample can look like the photo and still be unwearable. Grading other sizes from a bad base multiplies the error.

The factory has to guess

Rise, thigh, knee position, inseam, pocket-bag depth, stitch type, seam allowance, bartacks, fly construction, wash recipe. If it is not written, someone on the line decides. Their decision is not your brand.

Wash and hardware get invented

Vintage, champagne tint, spray, laser, pearl, lace, custom snaps: none of this is a classic 5-pocket. If the pack does not specify method and placement, the first sample is an experiment you pay for twice.

Price and timeline collapse

We do not quote a production unit without a pack for this reason. Photos and briefs are not a pack. A clear pack is cheaper than three wrong samples.

The size chart is not an appendix

Send what you have tonight. We turn gaps into questions, not inventions. Without these centimetres, grading multiplies the error.

How we work

From sketch to a file a factory can cut

Send what you have. We turn it into a pack, then into cloth. Very simple 5-pocket on stock fabric: about 2 weeks. Typical stock work: about 4. Sourced fabric or a more complex design: about 6–8.

  1. 1. Brief

Photos, a sketch, or a jean you already wear. Fit, wash, who it is for. We tell you what is still missing — we do not guess.

  2. 2. Tech pack + size chart

Flats, POM, construction, stitch, pockets, hardware, wash. This is the document another factory can also follow.

  3. 3. Sample

We sew the first sample from that file. Fit comments become a revision sample — a new clock, not a free recut of a vague brief.

  4. 4. You choose

Produce with us in any quantity, or take the pack elsewhere. Either way the document should be written here.

Have the pack written here — even if you produce somewhere else

A designer PDF and a factory PDF are not the same job. We write packs the way cutters and sewers work, with wash notes as first-class lines. The file is useful in Istanbul and useful if you take it to another mill.

  • Pattern language a line can execute — not an inspiration board
  • POM and tolerances before anyone cuts cloth
  • Wash and hardware as first-class lines, not footnotes
  • Production with us is optional; you can take the pack to another factory

What people ask before commissioning a tech pack

Can you write the pack if we produce in another factory?

Yes. That is often the smartest order of work. A pack written on a real denim line travels. A pack written only as a design PDF often does not.

Why not skip the size chart and “just copy the photo”?

Because a photo has no centimetres. Rise, knee and hem decide whether a tall or curvy customer can wear it. Copying a photo without POM is how you get a sample that looks right on a hanger and fails on a body.

Do you quote production without a pack?

No. Photos and briefs are not a pack. We do not give a production unit price from pictures. The sample is quoted from the pack we write. There is no minimum order quantity.

Send the sketch. Get a factory file — not a guess.
